The Last Five Yards of Our Book Launch
And the trust and surrender required to make my niece's dream a reality.
On November 1st, my eight-year-old niece’s dream of becoming an author came to life. "I Believe In Me!" (IBIM), the book we co-authored, launched and is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
The journey to select a publisher was a lesson in facing fears and embracing opportunities. In October, I set out to find a publisher to launch IBIM by Thanksgiving.
A friend introduced me to Lisa, CEO of a global publishing company. This connection was special – Lisa also ran a Spanish-focused publishing company. As a Colombian-American, the possibilities there excited me.
After conversing with Lisa and another publisher, I partnered with Halo Publishing International. Despite initial hesitation and my own fears of less-than-ideal outcomes, I reframed my mindset.
Instead of entertaining my thoughts, I allowed my thoughts to entertain me.
I got curious and asked myself, “How must the world appear to me such that I would entertain these thoughts?” I recognized my tendency to control and protect, but I also remembered that realizing big dreams isn't about perfection in every detail.
It's about clarity, letting go of attachments, and trusting the process. I can't foresee every outcome, but I believe in being guided by life's magical nudges.
Embracing this, I took the next brave step with Halo Publishing.
How do you respond when your fears come out to play smack dab in the middle of life giving you exactly what you asked for?
Gently, with a side of compassion.
See you in the next publication…Luisa and Dinah.
